DC: Starting with Superman's Powers - Chapter 7
“Ding-a-ling.”
The dismissal bell echoed across the campus.
In the hallway, a few long-legged girls stopped Jino.
The white girl leading them deliberately rolled up her shirt, revealing her flat stomach, and tilted her head as she looked at Jino:
“So, are you free tonight?”
The other two wingwomen chimed in, “We’re having a great party.”
“That’s right, we hope you can make it!”
Jino looked at the young women in front of him, smiled, leaned down, pinched the leading girl’s cheek, and chuckled, “I’m sorry, but my brother and I need to clean Luthor Manor tonight, so I probably won’t have time.”
“But once the manor is clean, I’ll invite everyone to a ball there.”
The three girls paused slightly, then shrieked, “You mean Luthor Manor!?”
“That’s your family’s?”
“Oh my god.”
Clearly, the girls were shocked that Jino owned a manor.
“He’s really good at flirting.”
In the hallway, Chloe said with some emotion, “With a face like that, no girl would refuse him. If it were you, that would be harassment.”
Meanwhile, Pete, standing beside her, said excitedly, “I’m only interested in the party he mentioned. If he invites me, I’m definitely going to feast at that ball.”
“What are you guys talking about?” Clark suddenly appeared behind them.
“Oh, my god!” Chloe and Pete were startled by Clark’s sudden appearance.
They turned around and glared at Clark, annoyed.
“What ‘oh my god’?”
Before they could fully recover, Jino’s voice suddenly rang out from behind them again.
This was now a second scare, and Pete made a face uglier than crying: “Why do you all like to appear behind people without a sound?”
Chloe quickly recovered and gave Clark a look, signaling him to act.
Meeting Chloe’s gaze, Clark paused slightly, but then remembered the arrangement she had made for him in class. So, Clark scratched his head and said, “Jino, uh, are you interested in joining the School Newspaper Club?”
“School Newspaper Club?” Jino frowned, glanced at Clark, then the young man grinned: “Of course, why not? I’m quite interested in the School Newspaper Club.”
Of course, that was all nonsense. Jino, having lived another life, was only interested in getting stronger and flirting with difficult women. The reason he agreed to join the club was to gain more points from Clark.
Chloe’s face immediately lit up with joy, surprised that this blond transfer student agreed so readily. Even Pete hadn’t expected it.
Chloe cleared her throat, just about to say something to Jino, when the phone in the boy’s pocket rang.
“Sorry, I need to take this call.” Jino raised an eyebrow, gave them an apologetic look, then walked away to answer the phone.
The screen showed an unknown number. Jino answered and heard a slightly youthful male voice: “Hello there, Jino Luthor.”
“Jeremy?” Jino’s excellent memory immediately helped him recognize the voice on the other end of the line. He had met the person once in a cornfield.
At that time, he had been about to save that unfortunate soul, but then meteorites struck, and ultimately, Jeremy was left to face the meteorite impact while hanging on a cross.
After that, the unfortunate person became a vegetable, lying in a hospital in a coma for over ten years.
“Heh heh, glad you still remember me.”
“However, now we should settle a score.”
The voice on the other end turned cold: “Especially when I was hit by meteorites, and you did nothing.”
By the latter part of the conversation, Jeremy’s voice carried a hint of gritted teeth.
Jino frowned: “Are you blaming me?”
“I wanted to save you then, but I also had to consider the circumstances.”
Jino’s voice also gradually turned cold: “I don’t think I should sacrifice myself to save you.”
Jino had seen many people like Jeremy, typical moral blackmailers: if you don’t help me, it’s your fault.
The other party hadn’t even considered that the Luthor Family had covered all his medical expenses during his coma.
“Heh heh, trust me, you’ll regret it.” Jeremy threatened, then hung up the phone.
Jino put his phone away, preoccupied. His sensitive hearing detected a whistling sound behind his head, and Jino dodged sideways without even turning around.
A fist slammed hard into the hallway wall, narrowly missing his clothes.
“What are you doing?”
Jino stared expressionlessly at the guy who had ambushed him. The blond young man, dressed in a red and white football uniform, now had a dark expression, like an enraged grizzly bear.
“Jino Luthor, is it??” Whitney silently pulled back his arm. Although his right fist was throbbing, he maintained a tough guy stance and challenged Jino with his eyes: “I need you to do me a favor.”
“Be the Scarecrow candidate for the annual event!”
Jino folded his arms and said, “I’m not in a good mood right now. Leave before I change my mind.”
A normal person without Kryptonite planned to kidnap someone with Superman-like abilities to become Scarecrow.
The absurdity of this situation was comparable to when Lex, as a child, smeared chicken poop everywhere and got yelled at by his father.
“Stop acting like a rich young master!” Whitney sneered, stepping closer to Jino.
At this moment, a large crowd had gathered in the hallway.
“Hey, what are you doing!” Clark came to Jino’s side, intending to stop the conflict.
Whitney, the football captain with a muscular chest, puffed himself up. He glanced at Clark and said, “This has nothing to do with you, farm boy!”
He fixed his gaze on Jino and shouted, “I’m going to teach you a good lesson!”
As he spoke, the man clenched his fist and threw a straight punch directly at Jino’s handsome face.
The crowd gasped in alarm. Many students could already picture Jino with a bruised and swollen nose.
Clark instinctively took a step, intending to stand in front of Jino and block the punch for him!
But, to Clark’s surprise, in an instant, Jino’s speed was even faster than his. In just a flash, he grabbed Whitney’s arm and then gently twisted it—
CRACK!
A crisp sound of bone breaking rang out. Whitney’s forearm was fractured, and the broken bone pierced through his flesh, exposed to the air, looking incredibly horrifying and chilling.
And all of this happened in just a brief moment, measurable in milliseconds.
Clark stared wide-eyed at Jino, his face filled with shock, surprise, and anger.
The shock and surprise were because this was the first time in so many years he had encountered a superhuman like himself, while the anger was due to Jino’s cruelty towards Whitney.
The other person had actually snapped Whitney’s arm!
Before Clark could even react, in the very next second, Whitney’s agonizing scream echoed through the hallway: “Oh, sh*t! My arm!”
He looked in horror at his twisted arm. The intense pain made the man involuntarily grip his arm and roll around on the floor, blood continuously gushing from the wound and splattering onto the floor.
The onlookers were also startled by this terrifying scene and started murmuring:
“Wh-what happened?”
“My god, what is going on?”
